Penguin Wars is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that somehow makes penguins throwing dodgeballs at each other feel intense. You pick your round little fighter (I always went with the blue one) and suddenly you're in this frantic back-and-forth where timing your throws and dodges actually matters way more than you'd expect.

The pixel art has that perfect chunky Game Boy charm—the penguins wobble when they move, and there's something hilarious about watching them panic when a ball comes flying. Matches get surprisingly tactical too—you can ricochet shots off the walls or bait your opponent into wasting their throws. First time I played, I thought it'd just be silly fun, but I lost three rounds straight to the CPU before figuring out the rhythm.

It's simple enough to jump into, but good luck putting it down after "just one more match." That smug little penguin taunting you from the victory screen is basically asking for a rematch.
