Parasol Stars is one of those weirdly satisfying Game Boy gems where you play as a tiny dragon with an umbrella—and somehow, that umbrella is your main weapon. You’ll bounce enemies off it, float down cliffs like Mary Poppins, and even catch raindrops to turn them into fruit (because why not?). The levels are bright and chaotic, with these little rainbow bridges you build by collecting gems, and the music’s got that classic chip-tune cheeriness.
At first, I thought it’d just be a cutesy platformer, but there’s some sneaky strategy—like figuring out when to use your parasol as a shield or when to chuck an enemy at a boss. And yeah, it’s technically a sequel to Rainbow Islands, but it stands on its own. If you’ve got a soft spot for retro games that don’t take themselves too seriously, this one’s a blast.
