Parasol Henbee is one of those weird, charming little Game Boy games that never left Japan—which is a shame, because it’s got this quirky energy I love. You play as a bee (Henbee, obviously) who fights enemies by bonking them with a parasol. Yeah, a parasol. It’s as ridiculous as it sounds, but somehow it works.
The controls are simple—jump, float with the parasol, and smack things—but the levels get surprisingly creative. One minute you’re bouncing on mushrooms, the next you’re dodging rolling apples or getting chased by angry ants. The art’s got that classic early Game Boy look, all chunky pixels and cheerful colors (well, as cheerful as green-on-black can be).
It’s short, maybe an hour or two if you’re good, but there’s something satisfying about the way Henbee just… flutters around causing chaos. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into retro oddities.
