Panic Restaurant came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, developed and published by Taito. It was part of that later wave of NES games, where developers were pushing the hardware to do more with detailed sprites and creative concepts. You don't hear about it as often as some other titles from that era, but it has a distinct look and premise that made it stand out on the shelf.

You control a chef named Cookie, who has to reclaim his restaurant from a rival chef that has brought the food to life. The game plays out screen by screen, with you moving through themed food-based rooms like a kitchen made of giant eggs or a freezer. Your main weapon is a frying pan, which you swing to defeat aggressive food enemies. A key mechanic is finding special ingredients hidden in certain blocks; collecting these ingredients allows you to access the boss of the area. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with enemies swarming from all sides. It feels like a frantic dash through a chaotic, edible obstacle course.
