About Pang
Pang came out for the Game Boy in 1990, developed by Mitchell Corporation. It was one of those games you'd see people hunched over on road trips or in the backseat, a small, focused challenge in the era of simple, portable fun. It didn't try to be an epic adventure; it was just a clever little action puzzle game that fit perfectly in your pocket.
You control a character who moves left and right at the bottom of the screen. Your only goal is to pop all the bouncing balls that fill each stage. You do this by shooting a harpoon upward; timing your shot is everything as the balls split into smaller, faster versions when hit. The game progresses screen by screen, with each new level introducing different ball patterns and obstacles. The pacing is relentless, demanding quick reflexes and careful aim as the screen gets increasingly chaotic. It feels tense and satisfying when you clear a difficult stage by the skin of your teeth.
