About Palamedes
I first played Palamedes on my Game Boy in 1990. It was published by Hot B, a company that put out a number of puzzle titles for Nintendo's handheld. During that era, the Game Boy library was filling up with all sorts of games, and Palamedes was one of the more thoughtful puzzle entries you could carry around.
You control a cursor at the bottom of the screen, aiming to clear rows of dice by matching their numbers. The main objective is to prevent the stack of dice from reaching the bottom. Your primary tools are a set of dice you roll yourself, trying to get the numbers you need to make matches and clear the advancing lines. The game starts calmly but the dice descend faster as you progress, creating a real pressure to think and act quickly. It feels like a tense race against a creeping wall of numbers.
