I remember picking up Pagemaster for the Game Boy back in 1994. It was a Fox Interactive release, a time when licensed games based on movies were common on the handheld. This one was an action platformer that felt right at home among the other side scrolling adventures of the era, though it never quite reached the same level of recognition as some of the bigger titles.

You control Richard Tyler, a boy who gets pulled into a magical library. Your main goal is to navigate through different themed worlds based on classic genres like Adventure, Fantasy, and Horror, all to find your way back home. The gameplay involves screen by screen exploration, jumping across platforms and avoiding environmental hazards. You fight enemies using a simple sword attack, and you collect special pages scattered throughout the levels. The pacing can be slow at times, and some of the platforming requires precise jumps that can be frustrating. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes challenging quest through a storybook world.
