Pachio Kun 3 is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that somehow nails that perfect mix of frustrating and satisfying. You play as this round, bouncy little guy—honestly, he looks like a bean with legs—and you’re just hopping between platforms, dodging spikes, and collecting whatever shiny things the game throws at you. The controls are simple, but the levels get brutal fast.
What I love about it is how unapologetically retro it feels. The colors pop in that classic Game Boy green-and-black way, and the music has that tinny charm you either love or hate. First time I played, I lost like five lives in the first stage because I kept underestimating how slippery the ice blocks were. Classic.
If you’re into platformers that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t throw your Game Boy when the later levels start messing with you.
