Man, PGA European Tour on GB is one of those Game Boy sports games that somehow nails the vibe despite the tiny screen. You pick your golfer—somehow they all look vaguely determined in 8-bit—and then it’s just you, a chunky power meter, and way too many trees waiting to ruin your shot. The courses are condensed but weirdly accurate, like someone squished St. Andrews into 160x144 pixels.
What’s cool is how much strategy sneaks in. You’re constantly adjusting for wind (which feels way stronger than it should be) and debating whether to risk a full-power drive or play it safe. And that little *plink* sound when you nail a putt? Still weirdly satisfying. It’s janky by modern standards, but there’s a purity to it—no microtransactions, no tutorials, just golf and your own poor decisions.
If you’ve got a soft spot for retro sports games, this one’s a solid time capsule. Just don’t blame me when you rage-quit after the third water hazard in a row.
