About Overlord
Overlord came out in 1993 for the NES, published by Codemasters. It was a late release for the system, arriving when many players were already moving to 16-bit consoles. The game presents a top-down fantasy adventure that draws clear inspiration from The Legend of Zelda, placing you in a large world to explore.
You control a lone hero navigating the land screen by screen. Your main goal is to explore dungeons, defeat the monsters inside, and collect the eight pieces of the Triforce-like Overlord's Crown. You use a sword for close combat and a bow for attacking enemies from a distance. The game is methodical; you push blocks to solve puzzles and search every corner for essential keys. It can be quite difficult, with limited health and aggressive enemies in tight spaces. Moving through its world feels deliberate, and each new area demands careful attention to survive.
