About Over Horizon (europe)
Over Horizon came out in 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, published by Pixel in Europe. It was one of those later NES shooters that arrived when developers were really pushing the hardware's limits.
You pilot a lone starfighter through horizontally scrolling levels filled with enemy craft and environmental hazards. Your main goal is to survive the onslaught and take down the stage bosses. A key mechanic is the ability to detach and freely position your two wing-mounted options, or pods, to cover your flanks or focus fire ahead. You also collect power-ups that change your main weapon, from standard shots to lasers and homing missiles. The game is fast and demanding, with enemy patterns that require quick reflexes and smart use of your mobile pods. Navigating the relentless waves of enemies while managing your firepower creates a tense and engaging experience.
