Out of Gas on Game Boy is one of those weird little gems that makes you appreciate how creative devs got with limited hardware. You're basically driving this clunky car through these jagged, monochrome landscapes, watching your fuel tick down way too fast. The tension's real—every bump or wrong turn costs you precious gas, and before long you're sweating over whether to take the risky shortcut or play it safe.

The pixel art has that rough-but-charming Game Boy vibe, all sharp edges and heavy shadows. At first I thought the handling felt too stiff, but after a few runs it clicks—you start reading the terrain better, timing jumps to coast downhill and save fuel. There's something weirdly satisfying about limping to the finish line with your tank on empty, engine sputtering.

Definitely more punishing than modern games, but in that way where failure makes you want to try one more time. If you're into retro stuff that doesn't hold your hand, this one's got a mean streak worth revisiting.
