Osawagase Penguin Boy is one of those weird little Game Boy games that somehow sticks with you. You control this round little penguin dude who waddles through these surreal, blocky levels—sometimes sliding on ice, sometimes getting chased by these bouncing... things? Honestly, half the enemies look like they escaped from a fever dream.
The controls take a second to click—you’ve got this awkward little hop at first, but once you get the rhythm down, it feels oddly satisfying to bounce between platforms. And the music? Weirdly catchy in that tinny Game Boy way. I kept humming the stage 1 theme for days.
It’s not super hard, but some of the later levels get sneaky with pits and enemies popping out of nowhere. There’s something charming about how janky it all feels, like someone threw together a bunch of random ideas and somehow made it work. If you’re into obscure retro platformers, this one’s worth a look.
