Olympic Hockey Nagano '98 is one of those N64 sports games that actually holds up—fast, chaotic, and way more fun than it has any right to be. You pick your country (Canada’s roster is stacked, obviously), and within seconds you’re slamming into opponents, taking wild slap shots, and watching the ref completely ignore some blatant penalties. The controls are simple—pass, shoot, check—but the puck physics feel just unpredictable enough to keep things tense.
Graphically, it’s peak late-90s N64: blocky players, choppy animations, but somehow the ice and jerseys still look decent. The AI isn’t brilliant, but on harder difficulties, goalies turn into brick walls. Best part? Two-player mode turns into pure, unhinged chaos, especially if you both pick overpowered teams and just start body-checking everything that moves. It’s not deep, but it nails that arcade hockey feel.
If you’ve got nostalgia for the Nagano Olympics or just want a no-nonsense hockey game, this one’s still a blast to fire up.
