Obake no Q Tarou - Wanwan Panic is one of those weird, charming NES games that never made it outside Japan. You play as Q Tarou, this little ghost kid, and your goal is to rescue your dog from a bunch of other ghosts—basically, it's a reverse haunted house situation.
The gameplay's simple but frantic: you run around haunted mansions, dodging floating furniture and creepy enemies while trying to grab your pup before time runs out. The controls take a second to get used to—Q Tarou slides a bit when he stops, so you’ll overshoot doors at first. But once it clicks, the chaos is weirdly satisfying.
Visually, it’s got that classic NES vibe—bright colors, chunky sprites, and some surprisingly detailed backgrounds for the time. The music’s catchy in that 8-bit way, though after a few levels, you might catch yourself humming the same tune on loop.
It’s not super deep, but it’s a fun little time capsule if you’re into obscure retro games. Just don’t expect a masterpiece—it’s more of a “weird afternoon distraction” kind of game.
