About Nobunaga No Yabou - Zenkoku Ban (japan)
Nobunaga no Yabou: Zenkoku Ban came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, a release from Koei. It was part of that wave of early console strategy games where you managed more than you directly fought, a different kind of challenge for the NES library at the time.
You take the role of a daimyo, a feudal lord in Sengoku-era Japan, aiming to unify the country under your banner. The game unfolds across a map of Japan, where you manage your provinces, appoint retainers, and raise armies. Key mechanics involve moving your forces between territories for tactical battles and engaging in diplomacy with other clans through marriages or alliances. The pacing is deliberate, demanding careful planning over quick action, and the difficulty is steep, punishing rash decisions. Successfully outmaneuvering a rival clan and absorbing their lands provides a genuine sense of hard-won accomplishment.
