Nobunaga no Yabou on Game Boy is one of those weird little gems that somehow crammed a full-on strategy sim into a tiny cartridge. You start off picking a clan—I went with Oda Nobunaga at first because, well, it's his name on the box—and suddenly you're managing taxes, sending ninjas to sabotage rivals, and trying not to get stomped by bigger armies. The menus are cramped (it's a Game Boy, after all), but there's something satisfying about slowly taking over Japan one pixelated province at a time.
Don't expect flashy battles—most fights play out like a spreadsheet with occasional sword clangs. But if you ever wanted to conquer feudal Japan during your commute, this oddly addictive little war game does the trick. Just don't blame me when you realize you've spent an hour debating whether to raise taxes or train more archers.
