Nintendo World Cup on Game Boy is that weird, janky soccer game you probably rented as a kid and couldn’t put down. The players look like little chibi characters, and the physics are ridiculous—you’ll boot the ball halfway across the screen with a single kick, and sometimes your guy just faceplants for no reason. But that’s part of the charm.
Matches are fast and chaotic, with teams from different countries (Brazil’s squad moves way too fast, feels unfair). There’s this weird super-shot mechanic where your player glows if you hold the button long enough—totally OP but satisfying when you pull it off. The music’s got that classic Game Boy bleep-bloop energy, and the controls are simple enough that you’ll be sliding tackles within seconds.
It’s not exactly FIFA, but that’s why it’s fun. You’ll either love how silly it is or rage-quit when the CPU scores from midfield. Either way, it’s a nostalgia trip worth taking.
