About Nintendo World Championships 1990
Nintendo World Championships 1990 was a special cartridge made for the Nintendo Entertainment System to be used in a nationwide competition. It was published by Nintendo and released in a very limited quantity, making it one of the more unusual NES titles. This wasn't a game you could buy in a store; it was a tool for testing the skills of the best players of its time.
You control a character through timed segments from three different games: Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer, and Tetris. The main objective is to score as many points as possible within a strict six minute and 21 second time limit. The gameplay is a rapid fire sequence; you run through a specific section of Super Mario Bros., then immediately switch to a short Rad Racer course, before finishing with a frantic session of Tetris. The constant switching and severe time pressure create a unique challenge that demands quick adaptation. Playing it feels like being in the middle of a high stakes race against the clock.
