Ninku on the Game Boy is one of those weird little fighting games that somehow mixes in adventure elements—like wandering around a map between battles. It’s based on the manga, so if you’re into that, you’ll recognize the characters and their weird wind-based attacks.
At first, it feels like a standard fighter, but then you realize you’re hopping between towns, getting into random scraps, and unlocking new moves. The sprites are tiny but surprisingly detailed for a Game Boy game, and the controls are simple enough that you can pull off special moves without memorizing a ton of inputs. Not the deepest fighter out there, but it’s got charm.
If you’re into obscure 90s manga adaptations, this one’s a fun oddity.
