About Ninja Gaiden Shadow
Ninja Gaiden Shadow came out for the Game Boy in 1991, developed by Tecmo. It was part of that wave of action games trying to translate a console feel to the small screen, a time when you could carry a full ninja adventure in your pocket. The hardware had its limits, but the ambition was clear.
You control a ninja named Ryu Hayabusa, moving through levels screen by screen. Your main goal is to defeat an evil empire, which involves navigating castles and forests, fighting soldiers and monsters. You have a sword for close combat and a bow for hitting distant enemies; you can also cling to certain walls and ceilings. The game moves at a quick pace and the difficulty is notable, demanding precise jumps and timely attacks. Playing it feels like a constant test of your reflexes and patience.
