Ninja Boy 2 is one of those hidden Game Boy gems that feels like a weird but fun mix of action and RPG. You start off as this little ninja dude running around slashing enemies with a sword, but then you level up, unlock magic, and suddenly you're tossing fireballs like it's no big deal. The sprites are tiny but surprisingly detailed—like, you can actually tell when your guy's wearing new armor.
At first, I thought it was just another hack-and-slash, but there's some real strategy in how you build your character. Do you go full melee and tank hits, or lean into magic and kite enemies? The dungeons get pretty tricky later on, too. Not gonna lie, the controls take a second to get used to, but once it clicks, it's weirdly satisfying.
If you're into retro action RPGs with a ninja twist, this one's a solid pick.
