About Niji No Silk Road (japan)
Niji No Silk Road came out in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Tose. It was one of many action-adventure games from that period, a time when developers were experimenting with how to build large worlds on the console.
You control a young hero exploring a vast map, moving screen by screen. Your main goal is to find the scattered pieces of the Rainbow Crystal. You use a sword for close combat and a bow for attacking enemies from a distance. The game involves a lot of backtracking through dungeons and overworld areas to find new items that unlock previously inaccessible paths. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can be unforgiving if you rush into situations unprepared. Playing it feels like slowly piecing together a large, quiet puzzle.
