About Nihon Daiyou Soccer
Nihon Daiyou Soccer came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by I'Max. It was one of many sports titles trying to capture the portable soccer audience during the early handheld era. The game presents a straightforward take on the sport, built for quick sessions on the monochrome screen.
You control a team of players, moving them around a top-down field to pass the ball and shoot on goal. The main objective is to outscore your opponent within the match time. Signature mechanics include a simple passing system where you aim your kicks with the D-pad, and a dedicated button for sliding tackles to dispossess the other team. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the computer opponents can be surprisingly aggressive, making it challenging to maintain possession.
