Man, Nettou The King of Fighters '95 on Game Boy is a trip—it’s wild seeing SNK’s big arcade brawler crammed onto that tiny screen. The sprites are chunky but weirdly charming, and somehow they squeezed in most of the original roster. Iori’s still a nightmare to fight against, by the way.
You pick your three-man team (I always go Terry, Ryo, and Kyo because I’m basic), then it’s straight into the pixelated chaos. The controls take a second to click—expect some accidental jumps at first—but once it does, it’s that same satisfying KOF combo flow, just with way more button mashing. The music’s surprisingly decent for a Game Boy port, too.
It’s not the prettiest or smoothest fighter out there, but if you’ve got nostalgia for 90s handhelds or just want to see how they pulled this off, it’s a fun little time capsule. Just don’t expect arcade-perfect inputs when you’re trying to land that desperation move.
