Nettou Samurai Spirits is one of those Game Boy ports that somehow makes pixelated sword fights feel intense. It's a stripped-down version of SNK's samurai fighter, but don't let the tiny sprites fool you—the core duels still have that weighty, deliberate pacing where one wrong move gets you sliced in half.
You pick from a handful of fighters (Haohmaru's still my go-to), and the controls are surprisingly decent for a Game Boy game. The screen flashes white when blades clash, which looks kinda cool in monochrome. It's not as deep as the arcade version, but landing a well-timed overhead slash still feels satisfying.
Perfect for quick matches when you want that old-school fighting game tension without the combo memorization.
