Nettou Samurai Spirits on Game Boy is one of those old-school fighters that somehow makes pixelated sword slashes feel satisfying. It's a stripped-down version of the Neo Geo classic, so don't expect flashy animations—just quick, brutal duels where one good combo can end you. The roster's small but each fighter has their own rhythm; I kept going back to Haohmaru because his overhead slash just *feels* right.
Controls are simple (for a Game Boy fighter, anyway), though pulling off special moves takes some practice. The AI doesn't mess around either—you'll eat a counterattack if you keep mashing buttons. Surprisingly decent for a handheld port from '95, especially if you're into that stiff-but-charming retro fighting game vibe.
Still holds up if you're in the mood for some portable samurai action.
