Nettou King of Fighters '95 on Game Boy is one of those "how did they fit this much fighting game into a tiny cartridge?" moments. You get all the classic SNK characters—Terry, Kyo, Iori—squished down into pixelated but surprisingly fluid sprites. The controls take a second to adjust (good luck pulling off a dragon punch on that tiny D-pad), but once it clicks, it's weirdly satisfying.
Matches are fast, sometimes too fast—one wrong move and you're eating a combo from Ryo that takes half your health. The AI doesn't mess around either; by the third fight, you'll be sweating. It's got that old-school arcade vibe where losing feels like your fault, not the game's. And yeah, the music’s basically just crunchy bleeps, but somehow it works when you’re in the middle of a clutch round.
If you’ve got a soft spot for handheld fighting games that punch above their weight, this one’s still a blast to throw into your Game Boy. Just don’t blame me when you rage-quit after Rugal cheeses you for the tenth time.
