About Nemesis Ii : The Return
I first played Nemesis II: The Return on my Game Boy back in 1991. It was a Konami release, a horizontal shooter that felt right at home on the handheld during a time when space shooters were a staple. You didn't get many deep stories; you just jumped into the cockpit and went.
You control a lone starfighter, navigating from left to right across varied planetary landscapes. Your main goal is to survive the onslaught, destroying alien craft and dodging intricate bullet patterns. The game introduces a power-up system where you collect icons to upgrade your main shot, add options (small drones that mirror your fire), and obtain protective shields. The pacing is relentless; one moment you're weaving through a meteor shower, the next you're facing a screen-filling boss. It feels tense and demanding, a constant test of your reflexes and memorization. Playing it is a focused, almost meditative challenge where every successful run feels earned.
