Nemesis II: The Return is one of those Game Boy shooters that feels like it was designed to punish you—in the best way possible. You start off with this tiny little ship, weaving through waves of pixelated alien swarms, and within minutes, you’re dodging bullets like some kind of space ninja. The power-ups are clutch—grabbing that laser upgrade feels like cheating until the game throws a screen full of enemies at you.
It’s got that classic side-scrolling Gradius vibe, but with way less room for error. One wrong move and you’re back to square one, which is equal parts frustrating and addictive. The soundtrack’s got that crunchy Game Boy synth going, too—simple but weirdly catchy after a while.
If you’re into retro shooters, this one’s a solid time capsule of early handheld chaos. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
