About Navy Blue (japan)
Navy Blue is a Japan only Nintendo Entertainment System release from 1990, developed by Atlus. It came out during a period when the NES library was diversifying, offering more complex adventures beyond the standard platformers and action games that defined the earlier part of the console's life.
You control a lone diver exploring the ocean depths. Your main goal is to investigate and survive a series of underwater caves and ruins, which function as the game's dungeons. Movement is screen by screen; each new area presents a confined space filled with hostile sea life and environmental hazards. Your primary tools are a limited supply of harpoons for defense and a submersible that you must constantly manage, watching its oxygen and integrity. The pacing is deliberate and often tense, as a wrong turn or an encounter with a powerful enemy can quickly deplete your resources. Navigating the murky, maze like passages with a genuine sense of vulnerability is the core of the experience.
