About Namco Classic (japan)
Namco Classic for the Game Boy was a Japan only release from 1990, developed and published by Namco. It arrived when the handheld was becoming a serious platform for arcade conversions, offering a portable version of some of their early hits.
You control different characters depending on the game selected, like the ship in Galaxian or the excavator in Dig Dug. The main objective is to achieve a high score in each individual game by clearing waves of enemies or completing stages. Signature mechanics include maneuvering your ship to shoot alien formations in Galaxian, and using an inflatable pump to defeat underground enemies in Dig Dug. The pacing is generally quick, and the difficulty can be sharp, especially on the small screen. Playing it feels like carrying a tiny, demanding arcade in your pocket.
