About Nagano Winter Olympics '98
Nagano Winter Olympics '98 came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, published by Konami. It was one of the many sports titles on the system that tried to capture a specific real world event. During that era, the N64 had a lot of party games, and this one fit right in for quick multiplayer sessions.
You control an athlete competing in various winter sports like downhill skiing, ski jumping, and snowboarding. The main goal is to win gold medals across different events, either alone or against friends. Signature mechanics include building up speed with a rhythmic button press in the skiing events and timing your takeoff perfectly in the ski jump. The game moves quickly from one event to the next, and some events can be surprisingly difficult to master, especially nailing the landing in the aerial competitions. It feels like a chaotic and sometimes clumsy race against the clock or your buddies.
