Nagano Winter Olympics '98 on N64 is one of those late-90s sports games that somehow nails the chaotic fun of the actual Olympics. You’ve got downhill skiing that feels way faster than it should, snowboarding with questionable physics, and bobsled that’s basically just trying not to wipe out on every turn. The graphics are blocky as hell now, but back then, seeing your little polygonal skier wipe out face-first into a snowbank was hilarious.
Best part? The multiplayer. Grab three friends, pick events like ski jumping (where timing your takeoff is way harder than it looks), and prepare for some serious trash talk. The AI isn’t exactly brilliant—you can cheese some events once you figure out the quirks—but who cares when you’re all yelling at the screen? It’s pure nostalgia, especially if you remember renting this from Blockbuster back in the day.
Not gonna lie, some events haven’t aged well, but the charm’s still there. If you’re into janky old sports games, this one’s a solid time capsule.
