About Nagagutsu Wo Haita Neko - Sekai Isshuu 80 Nichi Daibouken (japan)
I first played Nagagutsu Wo Haita Neko on the NES back in 1986. It was published by Toei Animation, which made sense since it was based on their Puss 'n Boots anime. During that era, a lot of licensed games were simple platformers, and this one fit right in with the expectations for a mid-80s NES title.
You control Pero, the cat, through side-scrolling stages. Your main goal is to travel around the world in 80 days, clearing levels to advance. The gameplay involves running, jumping on platforms, and using your sword to defeat enemies that get in your way. You explore each stage screen by screen, and there is an overworld map to select your next destination. The pacing is generally quick, though some enemy placements can be tricky. It feels like a straightforward adventure where you are constantly moving forward to see the next area.
