NFL Quarterback Club '96 on Game Boy is one of those old-school football games that somehow made handheld football feel legit back in the day. You’ve got all the teams and players from the mid-90s, and the controls are simple enough—run, pass, tackle—but don’t expect Madden-level depth. The sprites are tiny, obviously, but you can still pick out your favorite players if you squint hard enough.
First thing you’ll notice? The playbook is way smaller than you remember, and the AI isn’t exactly genius-level. But there’s something weirdly satisfying about scrambling with a pixelated QB and barely making a first down. Also, the soundtrack is just a few beeps and boops, but it somehow gets you hyped.
If you’re into retro sports games, this one’s a fun little time capsule. Just don’t go in expecting modern mechanics.
