NFL QB Club 2001 was one of those late-era N64 football games that tried to keep up with the PS1’s flashier Madden titles—and honestly, it holds up better than you’d expect. The animations are a little stiff by today’s standards, but back then, seeing your QB actually plant his feet before throwing felt revolutionary. The playbook’s deep enough to keep you tweaking strategies, though I always ended up spamming the same three plays when the clock was running down.
It’s got that classic N64 jank—some clipping, occasional slowdown—but there’s a weird charm to it. The commentary’s hilariously repetitive ("He’s got a cannon for an arm!"), and the player models look like they’re made of clay, but it’s solid fun if you’re into old-school football sims. Just don’t expect Madden-level polish.
