NBA Showtime on N64 is basically NBA Jam with a fresh coat of paint—over-the-top dunks, ridiculous physics, and that sweet NBC broadcast presentation. You pick two players per team (MJ and Pippen? Sure, why not) and immediately start throwing down alley-oops that would snap a real player’s spine. The announcer’s hyped, the crowd’s chanting, and every swish feels like a mini fireworks show.
It’s got that arcade feel where defense is sort of an afterthought—just sprint, turbo, and dunk so hard the backboard shakes. The rosters are a fun late-90s time capsule, though good luck finding anyone who isn’t just spamming Shaq every possession. Best played with a buddy, ideally someone who won’t rage when you hit three half-court shots in a row.
Still holds up if you’re into chaotic, no-rules basketball where the score hits 120 by halftime.
