About Nba Live 2000 (e)
NBA Live 2000 came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, developed and published by EA Sports. It was one of the basketball titles you'd see on the system, arriving during a period when the N64 had a smaller sports library compared to its competitors. This game was part of the long running NBA Live series, and on the N64 it had to carve out its own space.
You control a full team of five players on the court, directing their movement and actions to outscore the opposing team. The main objective is to win the game by having more points when the clock runs out. Signature mechanics include the turbo button for bursts of speed, which drains a stamina meter, and the isomotion dribble system for attempting to break down defenders one on one. You call plays using the controller's C buttons, and you can perform alley oop passes for flashy dunks. The pacing is generally fast, though the difficulty can spike depending on the team matchups and the skill level you select. It feels responsive and fluid when your plays come together, creating a genuine sense of controlling a coordinated basketball team.
