NBA In The Zone '98 is one of those late '90s basketball games that somehow nails the arcade-y feel while still keeping things grounded. You’ve got all 29 NBA teams from that era, and yeah, the player models are blocky by today’s standards, but the animations are surprisingly smooth—dunks actually feel weighty, and the fast breaks are chaotic in the best way.
The controls are simple enough that you can pick it up fast, but there’s a bit of depth if you mess around with the passing and shot timing. The real fun kicks in with multiplayer, though. Grab a friend, pick the Bulls or the Jazz (because, let’s be honest, everyone fights over MJ and Stockton), and prepare for some seriously heated couch battles. It’s not the most realistic sim out there, but it’s got that classic N64 charm.
Just don’t expect modern mechanics—this is pure late-'90s basketball nostalgia.
