About Narc
NARC was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990 by Williams Electronics. It arrived during a period when the NES library was diversifying, offering more mature themed games alongside its family friendly staples. This was a home conversion of an arcade game known for its gritty subject matter.
You control a member of a narcotics task force, moving through city streets and industrial areas screen by screen. Your main objective is to shoot your way through waves of drug dealers and other criminals, eventually confronting a series of gang leaders. Signature mechanics include using a standard firearm for most enemies and a rocket launcher for vehicles and tougher targets; you also collect bags of confiscated drugs for points, though some are booby trapped. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from all sides, and the difficulty is punishing. Playing NARC feels like a chaotic, uphill battle against an endless tide of urban crime.
