Muppet Adventure: Chaos at the Carnival is one of those weird, janky NES games that somehow works because it’s just so… Muppets. You pick your favorite fuzzy weirdo—Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, whoever—and run around a carnival full of mini-games, dodging obstacles and collecting tickets. It’s chaotic in the best way, like someone took a Muppet Show sketch and turned it into a platformer.
The controls are simple (Z and X for jumping and attacking, classic NES style), but the real fun is in the absurdity. One minute you’re hopping on bumper cars, the next you’re avoiding a giant chicken cannonball from Gonzo’s act. The sprites are surprisingly expressive, too—Miss Piggy’s karate chop animation alone is worth the play.
It’s not the deepest game, but if you’re into retro charm and Muppet nonsense, it’s a solid way to kill half an hour. Just don’t expect it to make much sense.
