Okay, so Mulan on GB is basically a side-scrolling action game where you play as Mulan—obviously—but with that classic Game Boy chunky-pixel charm. You start off training with Mushu (who’s way less annoying here than in the movie, honestly), and then it’s off to battle with sword slashes, dodging arrows, and the occasional stealth section where you sneak past guards. The music’s got that nostalgic bleep-bloop vibe, and the sprites are surprisingly expressive for a Game Boy title.
Some levels feel a bit repetitive—you’ll fight the same soldiers over and over—but the boss fights are where it shines. That mountain avalanche sequence? Way more intense than I expected. And yeah, you do get to ride Khan later, which is just as fun as it sounds. It’s not the deepest game, but if you’re into retro Disney stuff or just want a quick dose of 90s handheld action, it’s a solid pick. Just don’t expect Link’s Awakening levels of depth.
Also, pro tip: Save your special moves for the Hun leaders. You’ll thank me later.
