About Mr. Do!
I first played Mr. Do! on the Game Boy in 1992, a port by Ocean Software of the older arcade game. It was a familiar sight on the handheld, a simple action puzzle title you could pick up for short bursts. Many games from that time on the system were about quick sessions, and this one fit right in.
You control a clown named Mr. Do, moving him through a single screen maze to collect all the cherries. The main threat comes from the colorful monsters chasing you. You have two main ways to fight back. You can throw a magic ball that bounces around the screen, or you can dig tunnels to collapse parts of the maze on top of them. The game gets faster and more crowded as you progress, forcing you to think quickly about your path and when to attack. It feels tense and clever when you successfully trap a group of enemies with a well timed tunnel collapse.
