Motor City Patrol came out in 1992 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Source Research & Development. It was one of those later NES titles that tried to capture the feel of driving and crime fighting games as the 16-bit era was beginning.

You control a police officer driving a patrol car through a city viewed from above. Your main job is to cruise the streets, locate criminals, and arrest them before your shift ends. The game plays out screen by screen as you navigate the city grid; you use a radar to spot crime in progress and then must carefully ram the suspect's vehicle to stop them. Managing your fuel and avoiding damage from collisions are constant concerns. The pacing is methodical, and running out of time or fuel is a common way to fail. Driving through the city, hunting for that next offender, gives the game a slow, persistent rhythm.
