Mortal Kombat on Game Boy is wild—it somehow squeezed all that blood and brutality into a tiny cartridge. The digitized sprites look janky by today's standards, but back then, seeing real actors turned into pixelated fighters throwing fireballs was mind-blowing.
You've got your classic roster—Scorpion's spear still yanks people across the screen, Sub-Zero freezes folks mid-air, and yeah, the fatalities are here too (though way more pixelated). It's clunky compared to the arcade version, but there's something charming about how hard it tries to be brutal on a handheld. Just don't expect smooth combos—this one's all about raw, chaotic button mashing.
Fun fact: The Game Boy version actually censored some of the gore for the US and Europe releases. Still, watching someone's head explode in 8-bit never gets old.
