Monster Truck came out for the original Game Boy in 1991, developed by Natsume and published by Romstar. It was one of many vehicle games on the system, a straightforward racing title you could play in short bursts. The graphics were simple, blocky shapes, typical for the handheld at the time, and the sound was a collection of basic engine roars and chiptune music.

You control a monster truck from a top-down perspective, driving across different off-road tracks. The main goal is to finish each race in first place against computer-controlled opponents. Key mechanics include crushing smaller cars that get in your way, which is oddly satisfying, and navigating jumps and mud pits that can slow you down. The game is split into several cups, each with a handful of tracks, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as the other trucks become more aggressive. It feels like a chaotic, bumpy ride where you are constantly fighting for position on narrow paths.
