About Monopoly
Monopoly on the Game Boy came out in 1990, published by Parker Brothers. It was one of those early handheld adaptations that tried to fit a big board game onto a small screen. You could play it anywhere, which was the main draw, but the graphics were simple even for the time.
You control a single token, moving around the board by rolling dice. The goal is to bankrupt your opponents by buying properties and building houses and hotels. Key mechanics include managing your cash to pay rent or buy new squares, and trading properties with the AI to complete color sets. The game moves slowly, partly because the computer players take their time, and it can feel quite difficult when you start losing money early. Playing it feels like a quiet, solitary version of the usual tabletop chaos.
