Monopoly on Game Boy is exactly what it sounds like—classic property-hoarding chaos, but pocket-sized. The Japan version keeps the same ruthless capitalism we all know, just with yen instead of dollars. It’s got that weirdly satisfying Game Boy chiptune version of the theme song, and the AI opponents? Surprisingly cutthroat. One minute you’re casually buying up railroads, the next you’re mortgaging everything to avoid bankruptcy because the computer rolled a lucky double.
It’s missing some of the wilder house rules from later versions, but honestly, that’s part of the charm—pure, unfiltered Monopoly with all the petty grudges intact. Just don’t flip the table when you land on someone’s hotel-packed Ginza district. The Game Boy can’t handle that kind of rage.
