About Money Idol Exchanger (japan)
Money Idol Exchanger came out for the Game Boy in 1991 from Face. It was one of many puzzle games on the system, a time when developers were figuring out how to make the small screen engaging for quick sessions.
You control a cursor to swap adjacent coins and bills on a grid. The main goal is to match three or more of the same denomination to clear them and send garbage blocks to your opponent's side. The key mechanics are the special coins that appear when you make large matches; these can be combined for bigger chain reactions, and you can also exchange lower value coins for higher ones to set up those chains. The game starts calmly but the pace picks up quickly as your opponent sends more blocks your way. It feels like a constant race to organize the board before it fills up completely.
