Money Game, The was a Japan only release for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by SOFEL. It came out during a time when the NES library was full of experiments, and this was one of the more unusual ones, a stock market and life simulation hybrid that never made it overseas.
You control an investor trying to build a fortune and achieve a happy life. The main objective is to buy and sell stocks, watching their values fluctuate on a scrolling ticker tape display. Your decisions are not just about finance; you also manage your character's health and stress levels, which are affected by your market gains and losses. The game plays out in real time, so you are constantly monitoring prices and making quick buy or sell choices. It can be a difficult, fast paced experience where a single bad trade can set you back significantly. Playing it feels like a tense, personal race against the clock and your own nerves.
