Money Game, The (japan) Game

Money Game, The is this weirdly addictive little NES stock market sim that never made it outside Japan. You start with some cash, a basic apartment, and a newspaper full of stock prices—then it's up to you to buy low, sell high, and try not to go broke before payday. The stocks fluctuate in real-time, so you're constantly checking prices while also dealing with random life events (some guy tried to sell me a "guaranteed winner" stock once—turned out to be a scam).
What’s cool is how simple it feels at first, but then you realize there’s actual strategy—like holding onto certain stocks long-term or timing sales right before big dips. And if you mess up? Congrats, you’re eating instant noodles in your tiny apartment again. It’s got that classic NES charm with its chunky pixel art and beep-boop soundtrack, but don’t let that fool you—this game will humble you fast if you treat it like Monopoly.
Definitely one of those hidden gems that makes you wish more quirky sims got localized back in the day.
